We had a lovely trip to Jean's Farm today.  Thanks to Michelle, Judi, and Mike Clark for coming along!  We cooked with nettles, did some fun spring gardening and observed possible biomimetric applications from organisms found on the farm.

Tomorrow is also the last day of the term.  All late/missing work must be turned in by tomorrow.

Homework:

Service Reflection -- IF YOU DO NOT TURN IN A REFLECTION FOR THIS TERM YOU WILL RECEIVE AN INCOMPLETE ON YOUR REPORT CARD UNTIL ONE IS SUBMITTED.
this is an independent school, community, or garden reflection that follows the What? So What? Now what? format

Due 4/10: Comparison poem using metaphors (5 stanzas)
Due 4/10: FINAL draft of 6th grade speech

Due 4/11: Part 1 of Track Your Dinner...Draw a large dinner plate and all the food you ate.  Please draw neatly and in color.  Label the food/dish.

Due 4/16: Jean's Farm Field Study

Due 4/18: Track Your Dinner Parts 2 & 3 -- add to part one
Part 2: Track each its ingredient to its origin: include any stops it made and changes in form.
This could take form as a world map that shows the stops your food made, a graphic like the example on the back of the homework assignment sheet, a chart like the one Sarah made in class that shows stops and mileage for each ingredient
Part 3: Answer the Questions on your Poster:
1. How many miles did my food have to travel to get to my plate?
2. What are some different choices I could make to reduce my food miles?
3. How do my choices affect our planet?
