Reminder: No School on Monday -- President's Day
There is the Strong Schools Strong Oregon rally in Salem on Monday from 12-1pm. Students can receive community service hours for participating.

Also, week 3 the African Film Festival is going on this weekend -- some of the movies are not appropriate for students, so make sure to read the descriptions. Students can use it as a multicultural service reflection.

Thanks for sending in the letters of recommendation for the museum curators! We are waiting for all the resumes to come in and the students will be interviewing for the position next week.

The students should be bringing home their History Alive textbooks and a workbook this weekend. They have a reading/notetaking assignment for it. We will be using the book sporadically to support our learning of Ancient Greece and other ancient cultures.

HOMEWORK:
Due Tuesday: Read chapter 1 in History Alive (pages 5-11), complete the workbook pages 10-11 that go with Chapter 1 -- you only need to answer the questions that say "Read section 1.5..." There are a total of 6 -- ignore the top part of each box where it refers to a transparency or a placard.

Due Wednesday: Rough Draft of persuasive essays -- most students have received comments from me on their outlines

6th Grade Math:
Due Tuesday Sec 4.4 problems 36,37. There is a short quiz on parallelograms on Tuesday!
