A Sea Change

We had the wonderful opportunity to watch the documentary A Sea Change by award-winning director Barbara Ettinger on Monday morning. Barbara and her husband Sven (who 'stars' in the movie) were also there to answer questions afterward!

The movie is about ocean acidification and it's effects on ocean ecology.

3 Day Weekend

Students have a 3-day weekend...lucky them! They'll have a great opportunity to catch up on missing homework!

Tomorrow (Friday 10/9) is the opening of the Mercy Corps headquarters in Portland. Students were offered a community-based service learning opportunity to attend the opening and be some of the first to tour the new site and check out the interactive exhibits. 10am Friday in old town.

We traveled to the Tillamook Forest Center today with Michael's class on a...wait for it...coach bus! Students were referring to it as our tour bus. Hopefully the bus did not overshadow the wonderful experiences we had today. I was particularly impressed with students' astute observations about the differences between old growth and regenerating forests. I know what we saw and learned about today will really facilitate our investigation into forests and forest issues.

I have posted a link to some Eagle Fern pictures below.
Enjoy!
